Tourism in Yunnan
TCG Nordica’s Culture Tourism provides you with an opportunity to experience China in a unique way. Partnering with local tourist agencies, we offer tour assistance in the province of Yunnan where 25 of China’s 56 minorities reside. You will get a first hand view of the amazing scenery of this diverse province and meet some of the different people who live here. We will provide assistance in understanding the culture of minority people groups and also highlight environmental issues unique to the areas you visit. We hope to provide opportunities to share life with indigenous peoples as they go about in their daily lives.
Through our partnership with local artists, we at TCG Nordica can offer cultural courses to people who are interested in learning Chinese traditional culture, such as Chinese Calligraphy, traditional painting, folk dances, Taiji, Majiang, Woodcut printing and Chinese traditional/indigenous music instruments. This is indeed an unique chance to discover China’s diverse culture and enjoy the exceptional province of Yunnan.
Tour Proposals
1, Kunming — Jian Shui ancient town — Yuanyang rice terrace — Anning hot spring — Kunming
This is a 5 days’ trip with Nordica’s tour bus.
Three hours away from Kunming we will reach our first destination; the ancient town of Jian Shui where the most well preserved antique city of Han people is located. A visit to a local artist will be arranged, and after a unique and close experience with Chinese arts, we will accommodate at his family house in traditional style. Another three hours away we visit a small town called Yuan Yang located on the edge of the infamous rice terraces. This, contrary to Jian Shui, is deeply influenced by two minorities, Yi and Hani, and it’s their diligent character that has produced these spectacular terraces. After spending one night at the ancient palace of local King’s, we head towards the best hot spring in Yunnan, let the forest and spring water in Anning offer you a wonderful relaxation before we complete our journey.
2, Kunming — Wei Shan ancient town — Jian Chuan — Dali — Kunming
This is a 4 days’ trip with Nordica’s tour bus.
Departing from Kunming in morning, we will arrive at Wei Shan by afternoon. All the destinations in this tour were once important stations on the ancient South Silk Road. People have formed distinctive civilizations that influenced by or involved with cultures from south East Asia and Tibet. These multicultural customs are expressing through Bai people’s life; their food, religion and arts. While taking in the glamour of mountain Cang and Erhai Lake, it’s the chance to soak yourself in the harmony between nature and human society.
3, Kunming — Pu Er tea terrace / the base of woodcarving printing — Xi Shuan Ban Na — Kunming
This is a 6 days’ trip with flight.
Departing from Kunming, in only one hour we will find ourselves landing in the tropical area of Yunnan, called Si mao, where the largest and earliest base of woodcut printing as well as tea fields are established. Therefore, not only we offer the opportunities to enjoy local art and interact with artists, but also go into the Pu Er garden to experience the fun of picking the tea. From the second day on, we are going to enter the kingdom of nature. The tropical arboretum, primitive forests, minority village and food with Dai people’s culture penetrating though the five days, Xi Shuang Ban Na will become the place that you could hardly forget.
4, Kunming — Dali — Lijiang — Tiger leaping gorge — Kunming
This is a 5 days’ trip with Nordica’s tour bus. (4 days for taking flight)
Departing from Kunming in morning, we will be reaching Dali in the afternoon. Accommodating in the old town, which according to history was once the capital of ancient country Nan Zhao during the Tang dynasty. The next day, we will leave Dali and Bai people to enter the Naxi people’s territory. Lijiang is described as a fairyland under the cloud of southern China. Graced by ancient buildings, crystal clear streams and Naxi culture, the Old Town there is the perfect place for holidays. When we climb the breathtaking snow mountain (4500 meter) which is citied as a backdrop of Lijiang, you will be astonished by the superlative view, although the cliffs of the Tiger leaping gorge probably will provoke a just as surpsiring reaction with its completely different adventure.
5, Kunming — Miao people’s village — Kunming
This is a 1 days’ trip with Nordica’s tour bus.
Departing from Kunming, in three hours we are about to visit the remote area of Yunnan. This small village that sited inside mountain is inhabited by the minority group Miao. Through their passionate chorus，mud structured buildingsand beautiful embroidery, it’s a day to discover the unique minority culture.
