Jonathan Aumen

American artist Jonathan Aumen moved to Beijing with his family when he was 8 years old, from 1988 to 1998.  He was invited as residence artist by TCG Nordica. He will live and work in Kunming from July 2011 to 2012.  He is now working on his upcoming exhibition at TCG Nordica on February 25′th 2012.  His inspiration for the show was an article about the cell and how its complexity is very similar to a city.  His show will have many paintings of kunming that are painted through the lense of this scientific truth.

Gao Xiang

Resume
Gaoxiang teached in Yunnan Art lnstitute from 1994. In 2008, he received Ph.D of Fine Arts in China Central Academy of Fine Arts. His Ph.D Dissertation tation researched Italian master Giorgio Morandi’s Art.

Gao Xiang’s art works has received Excellent Prize in The Third Young Artists‘ Exhibition of China China National Museum of Fine Arts. His works focuse on how to use elements of Chinese Traditional Painting into Contemporary painting. He has been invited to show his work and participate art projects in China, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, America, France and Belgium.

AiR: Bai Xuejuan to Sweden

Bai Xuejuan, Yi People, China, works as an artist in residence in the Nordic Water Colour Museum’s studio from 1 Feb – 30 April, 2011.

The West Götaland Region Scholarship to invite a Chinese artist to the Nordic Water Colour Museum outside Göteborg, Sweden, has in 2010 been given to Ms. Bai Xuejuan. She will stay in Sweden from 1 February to 30 April, 2011.

Bai Xuejuan is a Yi people, she graduated from Yunnan Arts University, a member of Yunnan Artists Association. Her major is in oil painting, but she also works with watercolor, and she developed her watercolor project during she stayed in Sweden.

Lv Min, born in Kunming in 1962, Yunnan Province of China, ancestral hometown is Nanjing, graduated from Yunnan Arts College in 1986,major in board painting, she is a professional painter ranks class one of state level at Yunnan Artists Academy, member of Chinese Painters Association, member of Chinese Board Painting Association, Vice General-Supervisor of Yunnan Board Painting Association.
Her work has been showed in the main land of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan’s art exhibition, but also aboard, like international culture exchange exhibition. She has been invited to England, USA, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Bengal, Taiwan, Hong Kong to exhibit. Comments:

Su Yabi’s « Memory of Daily Life » ‘‘have always been trying to memorize episodes of my life through visual diary. On the canvas, I try to restore the relaxation and simplicity to the scenes I have experienced with very controlled colours. ’’ (Su Yabi’s words) In recent years, Su Yabi’s way of memorizing her routine is to use metal filaments to weave the small objects like clothes and skirts, scarves, combs and umbrellas etc which she had painted for many years into vertical hollowed out works of art. The « reality » seems to have been taken out from the objects, yet the visible and touchable metal filament, the vague but recognisable form of the object is evidently still linked to daily life. This false and true image is closer to « memory ». Su Yabi said that the weaving process ‘‘returned many memories to me’’ and wove tnto her daily frame of mind as well.
