Betty Gregers Arendt
born 1968, educated as a classical singer at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music with diploma 1995. Has been soloist in most major classical oratories. Is now employed as a full time singer and choir master at Haslev Church, Zealand, DK.
Peter Andreas Arendt
born 1955, educated as an organist and choir master at the Jutland Academy of Music with diploma 1981. Has been employed as a full time organist and choir master since 1979 in our different major Danish churches. Is now employed as an organist at Haslev Church.
Since 1991 Betty and Peter Arendt has been travelling all over the world as church music explorers. They have been several times in Asia, Africa and Latin America. And they have been leading choirs in different Global Church assemblies.
Betty and Peter have made several cd recording on both classical Western music and Global church music as well as recordings based on Nordic folk music.
In the concert at TCG Nordica May 30 their program will also consist of both classical and World music. The first part of the program is dedicated to the most well known Danish composer Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) who is this year celebrating his 150 anniversary. In this part of the program will also participate Jin Xiaoyun ,Sun Yuming and Zhang Yu, local musicians from Kunming, with whom Betty and Peter last year recorded a cd with World church music. The quintet is called Ensemble Nordica.
So some of Carl Nielsens songs will also be accompanied by traditional Chinese instruments.
In the second half of the program the five musicians will meet again in songs and hymns from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe.
