Bai Xuejuan, Yi People, China, works as an artist in residence in the Nordic Water Colour Museum’s studio from 1 Feb – 30 April, 2011.
The West Götaland Region Scholarship to invite a Chinese artist to the Nordic Water Colour Museum outside Göteborg, Sweden, has in 2010 been given to Ms. Bai Xuejuan. She will stay in Sweden from 1 February to 30 April, 2011.
Bai Xuejuan is a Yi people, she graduated from Yunnan Arts University, a member of Yunnan Artists Association. Her major is in oil painting, but she also works with watercolor, and she developed her watercolor project during she stayed in Sweden.

This month’s movie will be “127 hours”, 127 HOURS is the new film from Danny Boyle, the Academy Award winning director of last year’s Best Picture, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. 127 HOURS is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston’s (James Franco) remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage and the wherewithal to extricate himself by any means necessary, scale a 65 foot wall and hike over eight miles before he is finally rescued. Throughout his journey, Ralston recalls friends, lovers (Clemence Poesy), family, and the two hikers (Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara) he met before his accident. Will they be the last two people he ever had the chance to meet? A visceral thrilling story that will take an audience on a never before experienced journey and prove what we can do when we choose life.

Swedish dancers Helena Berggren and Boel Jönsson will meet with Chinese dancers Chen Jia and Weijia Zheng for an evening of movement on the 19th of February 2011. The dancers will meet in Kunming for nine days to make dancing sketches of life, dance, relationships and dreams. They will put body and breath to the elusive moments in life and let the movements reflect upon these drafts. During the performance the dancers will be accompanied by both local and international musicians and visual artists who will make live sketches of the dancing. The audience will be able to follow the making of sketches in both dance, images and music. The total impression we hope will make a sketch in the audience minds and make us remember that our lives are made up of short, passing, sketch like moments. The painting of our life is not yet done.
