Childrens’ Exhibition
Opening: Friday,5 June, 20:00
Duration: 2009.6.5–6.28
TCG Nordica take great interest in childrens’ development. We hope to stimulate their natural creativity through various art forms. We wish to help them in forming positive values.
Help them build hearth values. We plan and organize rich activities for children in each summer. This year, in the duration of International Children’s Day, an exhibition Love children, let them fly will hold at TCG Nordica according to the same goals with Hai Bei Kindergarten. Through letting children enjoy creating their own art, we see that they begin to improve their ability to observe and understand. They develop their imagination, the ability to express their own ideas and the reality around them, cultivating their perceptions of people, nature, culture and art.

2009 Movie Night–‘Bonnie And Clyde’

In the late sixties the American Hollywood industry was in crisis; no matter how spectacular and glamorous the settings was, how popular the actors was or the size of the budget; they just could not make people come to the cinemas. Especially the young generation was letting the well known and well used genre movies of the time down, whose polished romantic and unambiguous view of life did not seem to resonate with the younger audience. But then came Bonnie and Clyde, a road movie about two young, wild bank robbers and their staggering, but short and violent life in the crisis stricken America of the thirties, a movie which became immensely popular at its time, and was the first sprout of a new cinema tradition of America.
On Saturday night we will together see this movie trying to recognize exactly what it was that made this movie in touch with its time, and maybe try to see if it still somehow resonates with out time today. The movie night is a part of English Corner; a chance for you to
practice your English skills in an international environment. Do not miss this chance. The movie night is free of charge, and it is possible to buy dinner in Nordica’s cafe.
Movie night Saturday the 9th of May, 8 pm.

Comments:
Su Yabi’s « Memory of Daily Life » ‘‘have always been trying to memorize episodes of my life through visual diary. On the canvas, I try to restore the relaxation and simplicity to the scenes I have experienced with very controlled colours. ’’ (Su Yabi’s words) In recent years, Su Yabi’s way of memorizing her routine is to use metal filaments to weave the small objects like clothes and skirts, scarves, combs and umbrellas etc which she had painted for many years into vertical hollowed out works of art. The « reality » seems to have been taken out from the objects, yet the visible and touchable metal filament, the vague but recognisable form of the object is evidently still linked to daily life. This false and true image is closer to « memory ». Su Yabi said that the weaving process ‘‘returned many memories to me’’ and wove tnto her daily frame of mind as well.

Dr. Ilse Maria Gibson is a full-time university lecturer on Computer and Business subjects but she still finds time to indulge in her early passions, photography and writing. Born in south Germany, she traveled and worked world-wide and lived in the United States, United Kingdom and Phuket, Thailand for several years. Since 2008 Ilse has been based in Kunming where she teaches at Raffles International College.
South East Asia has provided Ilse with a treasure trove of subjects for photos which include shots of people, nature, sailing, buildings and interior design. Her knowledge in computer science and photography started her to experiment with photos using various graphic programs.
Turning normal photos into pop-art, is my favorite digital art. In my house you find photos of all my family members converted into colorful art pieces. Ilse Gibson’s fine art prints adorn hotels, restaurants and offices worldwide. Upon request, Ilse converts visitors’ favorite photos into photo art.
